Drove 10 miles out of my way to fill the Mini with some ethanol-free VP racing fuel. I was a bit disappointed to see that the 94 they had last winter has been replaced with 91 but we will see how the Mini likes it. Hopefully it will be happier with this than it has been on the winter blend 93 from the Shell station near my apartment .

I’ve never see a post like that about the zipcode. I like that. Altho in the area I live in pumps rarely ask for a zip code

That’s my station. It’s the only place the FR-S drinks unless I’m essentially in a different state.
I admire any business that has whittled the margins low enough to have 0 employees.

Why isn’t there a French version of this sign?
![]() 12/14/2018 at 12:33 |

Because in Quebec there’s no English version of that sign

Nor should there be.
Stop being lazy and learn French already, ROC.

If there shouldn’t be an English sign in a French speaking province why should there a French sign in an English speaking state?
Et je parle en peu mais j’habite New York et Arizona, haha

MA has been asking for zip codes at the pump for a while now. I have only been asked at pumps in VT for the last couple months. They have to explain how to input a Canadian zip because this pump is only 30~ miles from the Canadian border.

yeah i’m sure it was a common complaint.

I fill the Mini here all the time during Ice Racing season. We get onto the ice at Malletts Bay at the launch right next door so it’s super convenient to stop and fill up at the end of the day.

Why does the fuel pump need a postcode?
Is it some sort of card verification or something?
Here you put the card in, the pump says the value of fuel you can use against the card, you pump your fuel and go.

It’s an extra security layer against stolen cards being used. If the zip input doesn’t match the billing address of the card it rejects the card.

It would be nice if there was a way everyone could skip it. I’m tired of playing 20 questions with the gas pump.
Credit or debit
Enter zip
Car wash y/n
Rewards card y/n
Receipt y/n
Select grade
Wouldnt be so bad if it didn't take 45 seconds to register each key press.

Makes sense.
Possibly troublesome for non North Americans tourists trying to top up their rental cars though.

It’s for credit. You would likely use a debit card, which wouldn't require a ZIP code.

Last time I was in the states and tried that postal code + two zeros thing, it didn't work. I don't think I've ever gotten it to work.

Using debit cards at the pump puts a big fat hold on your account, though.
